The wonderful power of planning
Planning is the way to go. Ever heard of the saying that if you are not planning, you are planning to fail? That cannot be far from the truth. It is so very much true. If you are not planning whatever you have to do or are about to do, you are planning to fail. You have set yourself up for failure.
If you are not planning your actions or anything in your life, you are living life as it comes. You are taking things as they are and you are not intentional about life. The drive of the car is intentional as he navigates to his destination through his car. He knows where he is going. He or she is not guessing. She is not guessing anything. He is therefore intentional about his or her journey.
Planning reduces the time in action or rather execution. This happens because what is about to be put into practice has been planned well. Luckily today are are looking at the advantages of prior proper planning. Before you could execute, plan your things. Now, what are the advantages of proper planning? The following are the advantages of proper planning:
- Identification of flaws and errors
A good plan enables you to identify flaws and errors that could prove fatal to your business or life later on. It enables you to ask ”what if?” questions. This would then save you from a lot of headache and stress. When you plan out things before execution, you are eliminating the possibility and reality of errors and flaws on your road forward.
- The organization of thoughts
The planning process forces you to organize your thinking and identify all the key issues that must be dealt with if you are ultimately going to be successful. If you are not planning, your thoughts will be all over the place. They will be found everywhere and which is not a good thing. You must be in control of your your thoughts and planning allows you to do exactly just that.
- The planning of actions
Thinking through what you must do to accomplish your goals or missions enables you to plan your actions carefully before you begin, thereby saving you enormous costs of time, people and money. Actions need to be planned so they are fruitful in the end.
- Focus
The fourth benefit of planning is that it enables you to focus your time and money and concentrate all of your resources on the one or two objectives that you must achieve to make the enterprise successful. In the absence of clear focus, you will tend to spread your energies over a wide area and end up accomplishing very little.
- Identification of strengths and potential opportunities
Planning enables you to identify strengths and potential opportunities that you can take advantage of to increase the likelihood of success. Often, you will be unaware of your particular strengths, or opportunities that exist in the situation before you go through the planning process.
